How Standards Reps report their work

After each Standards meeting Reps feed back via an online form held on this website. The form requires a brief summary of progress to inform the Standards Board, the Policy Advisers and the Topic Advisers.

The report is also used to flag up key actions or to ask for advice or information.

Reps have full access to their reports via the password-protected Standards Management System.

What's on the report form?

The report submission form has a few simple sections to complete and can be edited once it has been saved. Relevant documents can also be attached.

The main fields are:

Key issues arising

There is a field for listing key issues from the meeting such as:
 • proposed inclusion of products in standards, especially European standards, for water industry use that are not suitable for such use
 • proposals for test methods which do not adequately test for parameters for which the industry needs to have accurate values
 • proposals for standards of good practice which are different to those adopted by Water UK members.

Immediate actions needed

There is a separate field for actions that you suggest the Standards Board take as soon as possible – those that cannot be left until the next monthly report to the Board. These might include:
 • the need for the urgent appointment of a new or replacement representative
 • the need to re-consider Water UK policy on a particular issue
 • advising the industry of an important standards event.

Meeting summary

Reps set out a brief description of the business conducted at the committee meeting attended. There is no need to wait for the official minutes to be distributed - your own notes from the meeting should form the basis of your report. The summary helps the Standards Board to understand the issues you have identified and any immediate actions you would like them to take.

It is helpful to list the organisations that were represented at a BSI meeting or the countries that were represented at European or International meetings.
