Water Standards Workshop 2010

Around 25 Standards Representatives from across the industry met for a half day workshop in London last month.

The objective of the workshop was to finalise the standards programme for 2010-11 taking in to consideration trading, procurement, sustainability, representation and emerging technical issues. The attendees were treated to presentations to stimulate thinking in these areas as follows:

A Standards Representative – what is best practice?
Mike Shepherd of Thames Water

Barrier Piping – Addressing the need for standards.
Richard Graty of GPS PE Pipe Systems

Water shortages – Applying standards to mechanisms to manage water consumption
John Griggs - Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering

The Procurement Angle – Maintaining and evolving Standards for Greater Efficiency
Alec Pavitt - Franklin and Andrews

The environment, sustainability and future considerations for standards development.
Ruth Allen - RSK Group

Stephen Kay, of Cambridge Water and Standards Board Chairman then chaired a session to review the 2010 - 2011 programme accordingly and take comments from those present.
